JNAP partners with NACT/KASA
September 2005
NACT, a provider
of telecom solutions, including switching gateways, is expanding
its services offerings with the acquisition of KASA
Enterprises, a Delray, Florida-based provider of professional managed
services, colocation, switch and port rental and VoIP-to-VoIP carrier
management services. KASA is operating as a wholly owned subsidiary
of NACT and is marketing its services worldwide under the new Relius
service brand.
Kevin Gunderson, KASA's former president and owner has been named general
manager of KASA, and Curt Barnes, a veteran of the telecom industry, has been
appointed director of sales for KASA.
The recent NACT/KASA relationship has lead to additional opportunities,
most notably in the Caribbean. At press time, KASA announced a co-marketing
partnership with JNAP (Jamaica Network Access Point). Both Curt
Barnes and Mark Ungerman (VP Marketing NACT) agree that this arrangement
will make it easier for KASA and NACT to introduce products and
services into the Caribbean market.
The JNAP co-marketing partnership is representative of a new business
model developed by KASA, which brings telecom carriers and distributors
together while encouraging long-term relationships. Barnes believes
this offers enormous potential to card companies who can now offer
two-way calling cards in and out of Jamaica.
“Partnering with JNAP has given us a strong foothold into
the Jamaican market,” maintains Barnes. “Since Jamaica
is one of the first islands to deregulate, many of the other islands
are looking at Jamaica to determine what it’s doing right
and wrong so they can do it better.”
Following Jamaica, KASA will work with JNAP in bringing similar
services to other Caribbean islands. “Currently there are
a lot of card carriers who have NACT switches, and this gives them
a leg up on the ability to offer two-way cards,” says Barnes.
Connectivity to Jamaica was expected to be completed by the end
of August.
